Photo of Trenance Park in central NewquayThere are not many parks and gardens within the town of Newquay and the main areas of green are made up of golf courses, including those around the East Pentire Head, Headland Road and Narrowcliff. Another expanse of green is the Newquay Football ground, which lies off Listry Road and features many seasonal matches and a popular playground area for young children.

Within central Newquay, Trenance Park covers a large area, creeping in many different directions and is much more than a basic seaside park. Boasting a huge selection of leisure opportunities and things to do, Trenance Park is close to Treninnick Hill and edged by Edgcumbe Avenue, Station Parade, Trevemper Road, Trenance Lane and Wildflower Lane. Here is some further information about Newquay's popular Trenance Park.

Covering more than 25 acres / 10 hectares, the centrally located Trenance Leisure Park contains a surprisingly large number of attractions, all of which are clustered within the park itself. Many heavily planted gardens can be found here, with subtropical specimens, lawned areas and shaded seating. On the south-western side of Newquay's Trenance Park, a large boating lake stands alongside a cafe serving basic refreshments, including ice creams and drinks. Many ducks frequent this long lake and are encourage to nest here, with wicker nesting boxes regularly installed on the numerous islands, which are dotted around the boating lake.

Also within the park is a well-maintained bowling green, located on its north-eastern side and next to a miniature railway, which transports visitors around this area. Also available here are tennis and squash courts, crazy golf, a pitch and putt golf course, swimming pools and water slides at the exciting Waterworld complex, horse riding close to the lake, and even a seasonal toboggan run. Trenance Park is also home to Newquay Zoo and the Conservation Centre, which is sited on the park's eastern side.
Newquay gardens open: daily - dawn to dusk
Newquay gardens admission: free, charge for some of the leisure attractions and activities within the park
